Highly stable output unaffected by input voltage!
The TOS5200 uses a PWM switching amplifier system to provide a highly stable output that is unaffected by input voltage. With the conventional slide transformer method, fluctuations in input voltage affect the output, so it may not be possible to test correctly. Applying a distorted voltage to the device under test may cause new products to fail (accelerating component deterioration).
TOS5200 can output stable high voltage without being affected by AC line fluctuations. This enables “safe”, “stable”, highly reliable and “safe” testing, especially in regions with large voltage fluctuations such as overseas. In addition, the output frequency can be selected between 50Hz and 60Hz.
New design of output terminal improves safety and functionality
Output terminals with enhanced safety and functionality
The HIGH output terminal is located at the furthest point from the control panel for the safety of the operator and the environment where the product is actually used. The rotation mechanism prevents cable twisting (wire breakage). The LOW terminal, on the other hand, has a locking mechanism on the main unit side, eliminating the metal fittings on the LOW side test lead and preventing the test lead from being damaged. By eliminating the protruding parts of these output terminals, unintentional damage to the terminals during movement can be prevented. In addition, in the event that the connecting cable gets caught on something or is subjected to unintentional external force, the HIGH (high voltage) side is easy to disconnect, while the LOW (ground) side is difficult to disconnect.
Full measures are taken to prevent incorrect insertion.
To prevent incorrect insertion, the terminals are not only color-coded HIGH (red) and LOW (black), but also have different terminal shapes.
Rise time/fall time control function!
The rise time control function prevents the EUT (EUT under test) from being stressed more than necessary. If a high voltage is applied suddenly without rise time, a large transient voltage is generated, which may cause damage to the EUT.
For this reason, safety standards specify withstand voltage test methods and require that the test voltage be gradually increased to a specified voltage. The start voltage can also be set to 50% of the test voltage (fixed). In addition, a fall time function allows the test voltage to be gradually reduced after the PASS judgment is completed. The voltage drop time is fixed at 0.1 s (OFF is also possible).
Protection cover prevents physical operation error in the production site
In many cases, workers on electronic equipment production and inspection lines are not expert technicians, and there is a high possibility that they will unknowingly change settings or operate the panel incorrectly. To prevent this, a key lock function is provided, as well as a cover that physically prevents the panel from being operated.
Front panel actuator cover accommodated on the bottom
The panel cover can be stored on the bottom when the panel cover is removed for continued use, such as when frequently changing test conditions and repeating tests.
Less measurement error! What is the difference between ±1.5% of “reading” and ±1.5% “f.s.”?
TOS5200 specifies an error for reading: readings
TOS5050A defines the error with respect to f.s: full scale (maximum value)
For example, when measuring output voltage 1500V with TOS5200, the maximum error ΔV = 1500 (reading) x 1.5% = 22.5V. When measuring output voltage 1500V with TOS5050A, 0 to 2.5kV/0 to 5kV (2 ranges) is set to 0 to 2.5kV range, so the maximum error ΔV = Therefore, the maximum error ΔV = 2500 (maximum value) × 1.5% = 37.5V. Therefore, the same 1500V measurement has a maximum measurement error of 15V.
Test time can be set from 0.1 sec! Contributes to shorter takt time!
With the TOS5200, test time can be set from 0.1 second without sacrificing measurement accuracy. This is five times faster than the TOS5050A, which had a minimum test time of 0.5 seconds, leading to shorter takt time. Since shorter takt time is directly related to improved productivity, many users have requested changes or modifications to the minimum test time setting. However, a challenge in withstand voltage testing was that a test time faster than the measurement response speed would result in extremely poor measurement accuracy.
Increased resolution of leakage current setting value!
The TOS5200 can set the judgment reference value from 0.01 mA to 110 mA.
(Conventional product TOS5050A: 0.1mA to 110mA)
It is possible to better clarify how much the competence value of a product or electronic component is.
The sensitivity of the lower limit judgment standard value has been increased, enabling more accurate detection of wire breakage, contact defects, etc. than with conventional products. Moreover, measurement is performed at the true effective value.
REMOTE connector, USB/RS-232C interface, SIGNAL I/O
The front panel is equipped with a REMOTE connector and USB interface dedicated for our option, and the rear panel is equipped with an RS-232C interface and “SIGNAL I/O” with start and stop operations and signal outputs as standard.
Memory function for easy setup!
Test voltage, judgment value, and test time can be set simply by pressing a key and turning the knob in the center of the panel. Once set, the test conditions can be stored in the panel memory. (3 sets)
interlocking circuit
An interlock function is provided to shut down the output in conjunction with an external device. To ensure operator safety, the interlock function is activated when the SIGNAL I/O connector No. 1 pin – No. 13 pin on the rear panel of the main unit is opened, and the interlock function is released when shorted.
Prevents overvoltage application due to incorrect operation and monitors output voltage
LIMIT VOLTAGE function
Ensure that the test voltage cannot be set higher than the preset voltage.
Output voltage monitor feature
If the output voltage exceeds (±350V) of the set value, the output is shut down and shifted to the protection state.
Supporting the World-wide input voltage
Can be used globally! /Output frequency selectable!
Can be used in overseas factories without changing an input power supply. Also, it does not depend on the power supply environment of the input side. Stable test voltage of 50Hz/60Hz is supplied.

*1 Regarding the output time limits:
Taking size, weight, and cost into consideration, the heat dissipation capability of the voltage generator that is used for withstanding voltage tests has been designed to be one half that of the rated output. Use the TOS5300 Series within the following limits. If you use the product in a manner that exceeds these limits, the output section may overheat, and the internal protection circuits may be activated. If this happens, stop testing, and wait until the TOS5300 Series returns to its normal temperature.

*2: Regarding the test voltage waveform: Waveform distortions may occur if an DUT whose capacitance is dependent on voltage (for example, an DUT that consists of ceramic capacitors) is connected as the load. However, if the test voltage is 1.5 kV, the effect of a capacitance of 1000 pF or less can be ignored.Because the product’s high-voltage power supply uses the PWM switching method, if the test voltage is 500 V or less, the switching and spike noise proportions are large. The lower the test voltage, the greater the waveform is distorted. *3: For both True rms and Mean-value response, 50 ms or above response time is required to satisfy the measurement accuracy. *4: Regarding ammeter and judgment accuracy: During AC withstanding voltage tests, current also flows in the stray capacitance of items such as the measurement leads and jigs. This current that flows in the stray capacitances is added to the current that flows in the DUT, and the sum of these currents is measured.Especially if you want to perform judgments with high sensitivity and accuracy, it is necessary to consider methods to limit the current that flows in these stray capacitances, such as by adding upper and lower limits.
